A build up of ear wax or cerumen is not uncommon. Symptoms include itchiness, crackling sounds, ear discomfort, increased awareness of tinnitus, dizziness and a generally blocked ear.

Our body generally does a good job of dispensing our ear wax, but problems do still occur. A few drops of olive oil can work to soften the wax and for some people this will do the trick. If you need a convenient ear cleaning service at home for more stubborn wax, you really need to book an appointment with your GP or Audiologist.

There are three typical methods for ear wax removal: Mechanical Removal using instruments such as curettes or loop, Irrigation (or Syringing) which uses water flushed into the ear canal and removal by Microsuction which uses a low powered suction probe. We can provide all three methods during our home visits and in the majority of cases this results in successful ear wax removal.

MICROSUCTION
The Microsuction method allows us to look into your ear with a high definition TympaHealth camera whilst using a low powered suction probe to gently dislodge the ear wax. It is a painless procedure and usually takes around 30 minutes to complete.

Professional Irrigation Ear Wax Removal at Home.
IRRIGATION (Syringing)
The Irrigation or Syringing method provides a simple and effective method of ear wax removal using a variable pressure controlled device. This allows safe water delivery into the ear and is the preferred, and safer method of removal of more deeply lodged ear wax. The procedure usually takes between 10-15 minutes.
